The Insight (What I Noticed)
While auditing The Roku Channel, I uncovered a fundamental product gap:
The platform had no dedicated Search experience.
This stood out because:
The platform hosts 80,000+ titles and 400+ live channels
It is a top 10 streaming service in the U.S.
It accounts for ~3% of all U.S. TV viewing time
Despite operating at massive scale, the product lacked a basic mechanism for:
User intent expression
Why This Is a Critical Problem
Streaming behavior splits into two modes:
